The Government Bill has now been passed which withdraws legal funding for couples who are separating. There will be many people who cannot afford legal advice and, increasingly, couples will need to consider mediation as a means of sorting out practical matters, including financial arrangements. Mediators do not give legal advice but help the couple to discuss their issues and focus on meeting their future needs, especially the needs of any children.
